Girls just wanna have fun!
Learn how to paint expressions of self-love and girl power from artists, Krystal Paraboo and Summan Kandola.
This program teaches girls about self-esteem, confidence and learning how to create an anti-bullying community and spreading girl love through art.


WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:

Students will learn how to paint expressions of self-love and girl power

Students will walk away with the understanding of acrylic paints and various forms of creating artwork

Students will create their own canvas that expresses their understanding of empowerment

Students will receive a Freed Girl Squad t-shirt in addition to their artwork (all supplies included)
*Transportation and Lunch are not included.
*There are limited seats in this program.
OUTCOME:

Students will gain a new perspective on body image, skin colour and mediums to help express themselves.

We encourage community building, mentoring and making connections during our #girlsquad sessions.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS

KRYSTAL PARABOO

My name is Krystal, and my passion lies with artistic expression, and community/cultural development. I completed my Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in both Art History and History at Queen‘s University, including an extensive international study experience in the UK. When I'm not reading, I'm writing historical research papers for my own amusement. I cultivate the HiVE’s community through public programming and art curation as the Community Manager. In addition, I am heavily involved with both the Vancouver and international arts community through my work with the Vancouver Art Gallery, and Rennie Museum. My extensive experience within both public and private art institutions has provided me with the opportunity to collaborate with multiple creatives in various interdisciplinary sectors. My work within these institutions has included: Art Consultancy, Curation, Art Education, Exhibition Preparation, Public Programs, Research, Art Criticism, Communications, Marketing, and Event Planning.

SUMMAN KANDOLA

Summan is a social justice activist encouraging youth to share their stories in efforts to unite communities and educate one another through unique experiences. She is on the pursuit of uniting the trails and tribulations of growing pains.
Summan is a multi-talented web content creator and educator. She has created the online platform, Chronicles of Summan. The platform offers viewers interviews, event coverage and community initative. Summan is also the creator of the webseries Surutheguru and How to be Famous.
She also writes for Surrey604 and teaches social media and film courses with Freededucation.
